About the league.
The Ancaster Men’s Slo-pitch League (AMSPL) had its inaugural season during the summer of 1984. It was originally made up of residence of the city of Ancaster and a few close friends. Since that first season it has grown and grown to the current status of a 10 team, 130-member league with a healthy waiting list. There are players of all ages playing in AMSPL, starting from 19 years old to our eldest member of 77. AMSPL is well known as a “draft” league. Members of AMSPL are ranked by the current executive and a few chosen members within the league. Players are ranked from a 1 to a 7 in half point increments. Each captain is provided a list of all ranked players and all 10 captains, along with the executive, get together over 2 nights in the winter to draft the teams for the upcoming season.
This community of players from all walks of life have grown closer year after year, season after season, many attending each other’s weddings and family gatherings. Living together, through the joys, challenges, and losses that are part of life. This organization has created friendships that can only be described as family. Slo-pitch is the reason that we all know each other but it is the people who belong to and support AMSPL that keeps us coming back season after season.
